Quality and Compliance Manager
Managing (development, implementation, maintenance and improvement) and supporting the company’s Quality and Food Safety Systems in conformance with the requirements of the certified Quality and Food Safety Management System standards. Providing and communicating technical and related scientific input to support both internal and external parties (corporate office) which will allow the business to meet its objectives in the different markets. Ensures that the company complies with legal and standard requirements of domestic and international markets ie COSTCO, Gluten Free Certification (GFCO) and religious certifications (Kosher & Halaal)
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring and checking that work activities and standards (incl. discipline such as safety) within the Q&T department are adequately described and recorded; communicated and available in the form of specifications, work instructions and records for staff to perform their duties effectively; maintained; updated and improved as necessary/applicable.
- Communicate the requirements, function and protocols of metal detection devices, whether metal detectors, X- Rays Machine or magnets to ensure that this critical equipment is at optimal performance at all times (this requirement would require the incumbent to be considered the expert on metal detection at all steps of the process).
- Leading a team consisting of Laboratory personnel and Quality Controllers to ensure inspection and testing of products and raw materials, whether in the laboratory or on-line, are according to accepted norms, and allow early detection of non-compliance.
- Supporting the Head of Department by assisting with priority activities within the Q&T department that were identified to align and meet with business strategies and objectives.
- Maintaining a weekly “check-in” meeting with the Quality Supervisor, Quality & Hygiene Liaison and RM Inspectors as means to have an open communication sharing and awareness session about matters that may require advise, assistance, support, guidance and mentoring.
- Communicating technical input (relevant industry news / Corporate updates / information (magazines, newsletters, brochures, etc.), PRP’s, etc. to the relevant parties at local plant level;
- Attending to document-controlled administration (development, implementation, maintenance, revision and improvement) of approved systems documentation (policies, procedures, work instructions, specifications, records)
- Assisting with the investigation of non-conformities (includes customer complaints) when dictated by its nature, e.g. requirement for technical data analysis, trend analysis, etc.
- Duties of the Management Representative (e.g. scheduled and closed-out internal audits, internal audit reviews and management review, etc.)
- Duties of the Food Safety Team Leader as stipulated in the “Letter of Appointment”.
- Staying abreast of regulatory legislation, standards, guidelines and compulsory specifications that are applicable to the products of the company.

- Either Nakd or BEAR plant, annual output of 1200 and 4500 tons respectively.
Education
- B.Sc. Food Science
- Training attendance certification in PRP (GMP), HACCP, BRC, ISO 9001 or FSSC 22000 and Auditing principles and requirements Training attendance certification in PRP, HACCP, ISO 9001, FSSC 22000 and or Auditing principles

- Knowledge, understanding and interpretation of legislation, standards and compulsory specifications relevant to the products & services, processes and systems of the company.
- Technical knowledge and understanding intrinsic to metal detection;
- Knowledge and understanding of the company’s Quality and Food Safety System policies, procedures and records.
