Legal Manager US, ID & Licensed Countries
As our Legal Manager US, International Distributors (ID) & Licensed Countries, you are an autonomous and trusted legal advisor supporting business operations across US and our Distribution Countries.
Reporting into the Group Legal & Public Affairs Director, you pro-actively manage regional legal risks, drive legal compliance with applicable laws and regulations and maintain a consistently high standard of legal advice aligned with a fast-paced, multi-national FMCG environment.
- You draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts (including sales, procurement and marketing agreements) and advise internal stakeholders on day-to-day legal matters while proactively identifying legal risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
- You ensure continuous management and development of legal knowhow relevant to the region (in this case US, ID & Licensed Countries) guaranteeing up-to-date legal advice aligned with local laws and evolving business needs.
- You monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations, conduct bi-annual meetings with the Management Team to align legal support with the business strategy and provide forward-looking legal insights.
- You lead or contribute to regional and global legal initiatives and continuous improvement projects while cooperating with the Compliance Manager in identifying local compliance needs and monitoring local opportunities for improvement.
- Fostering strong partnerships with cross-functional teams, you contribute to a culture of integrity, accountability and operational excellence.
To be able to achieve the above and be successful in this role we believe you need to have:
- A strong academic background with a Master’s degree in law, preferrably from a US law school, with a specialization in Corporate or Commercial Law.
- 6 to 10 years of proven experience in a legal function, preferrably with a mix of top-tier law firm and in-house roles.
- Proven experience working with multinational corporations, ideally in FMCG, retail or life sciences.
- A demonstrated ability to draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements, managing legal risk, compliance and regulatory matters across multiple jurisdictions.
- a strong track record of building relationships with internal stakeholders and influencing decision-making at various levels, including executive teams.
- The capability of managing external counsel, controlling legal spend and ensuring quality outcomes while comfortably operating autonomously and coordinating with a global legal team or matrixed organization structure.
- A business-oriented mindset, able to balance legal risk with commercial realities, with strong communication skills and a high level of integrity.
